A family brand, French, independent and committed since 1950
Our story began in 1950, when entrepreneur Paul Berthomé joined forces with pharmacist Claude Guillon to create the very first cleansing milk for babies. A technical innovation but also a way to free up time for parents - in this case at the time, mainly women.
70 years and millions of children with soft skin later, our ambition is the same: to be on the side of parents and make their lives easier thanks to our natural care ranges.
The key stages of Mustela
Our production site since 1957
Since 1957, 85% of our products have been manufactured at our production site in Epernon, in Eure-et-Loir, France.
Since 1957, we have put everything in place to control the value chain from A to Z, that is to say from research to the manufacturing of our products, to their marketing. This strategy aims to better guarantee the safety and quality of our products.
Family and independent
Today, Mustela is still a family and independent brand: it belongs to the family of the founder of Laboratoires Expanscience, Paul Berthomé and it is his son, Jean-Paul, who now runs the company.
Why stay independent?
This strategy simply aims to guarantee control of the value chain from A to Z, that is to say from research to marketing. This obviously concerns product safety and quality.
This independence also allows us to be constantly in a process of progress towards a neutral then positive impact on the environment and the world.
Our credo is simple: try to do better every day.
